We had to report to the guest services at 12:40 for more directions. At about 12:50 we were ushered into a cubs conference room given a tshirt jersey, hat, ball, pen, and had to sign a waiver. We were then given our positions and directions for running onto the field and off. The girl kept saying you will sprint on and off....I had on sandals!!!
At about 1:05 we were taken to row 4 behind the plate where we had to sit for a few more minutes. At 1:15 we went out onto the field and watched the color guard be announced and the singing of God Bless America and The Star Spangled Banner. My heart was pounded and I was so nervous!!!
At the conclusion the girl who was in charge of us gave us the signal and we ran!!!! I headed to Left field grass and my husband went to center field. I had to dodge the umps and pray my shoes stayed on! As I'm standing on WRIGLEY FIELD my heart is racing. They announce my position, name and hometown....amazing!!! I've been there before....two other times...(when I was about 9 my brother and I got to go on the field as the first 100 kids and we met Andre Daweson, and last spring I did the meet the team have a ball and walked on wrigley)but nothing like THIS!!! The seats are full and people are waving/cheering/excited!!!
Next thing I know here comes Alfonso Soriano sprinting out towards me! He gets to me and says, 'Hey there lil momma how are you!' I'm shaking and say great and ask him to please get a win today....then he signs my ball and I shake his hand. I get one last glimpse of the field before running off into the grounds crew enterance.
It was a magical day....and I can't believe it happened...but it did!!!!!
Ted Lilly pitched well and the cubs pulled out a victory.
Now I'm sitting here watching the lakers who are going to get crowned champs here in a few minutes!!!! 2009 WORLD CHAMPS!
